Adventures in Alachua

If you have never been to the Alachua county farmers' market, you are missing out on some amazing fresh produce that is dirt cheap. If you are a conscientious college student, you should consider supporting local economy. Because it cuts out about 3 middleman, it becomes a win-win situation for both the farmers and consumers. To give you an idea, here's how cheap stuff is:

* 2 green peppers + 2 red peppers = $1
* 4 tomatoes = $1
* 15 jalapeno/hot peppers = $1
* a basketfull of okra = $2
* 1.5lb of sweet potatoes = $2

Another plus is that these taste SO MUCH BETTER than the Publix produce. I don't think I've ever tasted a real red or green pepper in my life. The fresh honey is pretty awesome as well:

So early Saturday morning trips out to the farmers' market have become a favorite of ours.
