Price: Moderate ($10-15)
Atmosphere: 7/10
The atmosphere at Bahn Thai is nice, but some unsightly details keep it at an 7/10. The restaurant is done with Thai-ish looking colors and decor--pretty much like any other Thai restaurant I've been to. It looks nice. Unfortunately, the laminate tables, ugly buffet, and slightly worn chairs detract from the appearance. I think the booth seating is nicer, but obviously we weren't going to fit 20 people in a booth. :)
Service: 8/10
This one's a little hard because we came with such a large group. We were assigned one waitress, but I think with such a number we could have been better served with two. The staff also seemed to have a bit of a problem finding a place for us all to sit, and arranged the tables a little awkwardly--even though we called ahead! They were obviously not used to large groups.
Our one waitress, though, was nice and very helpful with the extensive menu. She wasn't afraid to give us recommendations, which I appreciate! It's not very helpful when the waiting staff shows they don't know their own menu. Overall, she was enough to keep them at an 8/10 despite the inconveniences.
Food: 9/10
Delicious! Everyone was happy with their meal. (I had the red curry chicken, Dream had... some thai name. Others had the pad thai, which was very good.) Every dish had distinct flavor, not just "generic thai flavor" like I've gotten in some other restaurants.
The varied menu is a little intimidating when ordering, but if everything's good, who cares.
Value: 9/10
You pay a standard dinner price and get way better than standard dinner food! I'd probably give it a 10/10 if the restaurant looked a little nicer inside.
Opinion
Bahn Thai loses a bit to Fuji Hana in atmosphere, but makes great gains in deliciousness! I give them both a 9/10. Good job, Bahn Thai! Thanks for making the first half of our birthday party quite enjoyable.
PS: Change out the tables!
